Establishment of “Rule of Law” & Networking among Students in Asia
The aim of this competition is to contribute the establishment of “Rule of Law” in Asia. Through the Moot Court Competition, students from Asian countries contend for their ability to write memorials and to present oral pleadings on a fictional lawsuit case regarding international law. Also it is designed to disseminate the knowledge and the understanding of international law into the Asian region. It also intends to make a substantial contribution to upgrading and expanding human network among promising students in this academic field from Asian countries.
History since 1999
From Japan Cup to Asia Cup
Asia Cup started in 1999 in Tokyo, under the leadership of Professor TSUTSUI Wakamizu (University of Tokyo) to evolve “Japan Cup” (international law moot court competition among Japanese universities held since 1996) into one that is open to students all over Asia.
“Asia Cup” has become one of the prime events in the field of the international law moot court competitions, and has offered outstanding opportunities to promote good fellowship among the representatives from Asian countries. Accordingly, this event has gained the recognition in the realm of international law education.
